The Global Tobacco and Nicotine Forum(GTNF), one of the world's most influential tobacco development forums, was successfully held in Seoul, South Korea from September 19 to 21, 2023. With the theme "Change the conversation. Change the outcome." the forum gathered experts and representatives from various industries worldwide, including Zinwi Biotech. This is Zinwi Biotech's second participation in the GTNF, demonstrating their determination to reduce harm, promote green, low-carbon high-quality development, and actively respond to global industry changes.
During the forum, experts engaged in intense discussions on global policy regulation, protection of minors, and sustainable development. In the panel discussion on "Research update on NGPs," Dr. Shawn Long introduced the efforts made by Zinwi Biotech in harm reduction. He stated, "We conducted research from two dimensions: aerosol materials and safety system. In terms of harm reduction and substitution, to meet the demand of traditional smokers for reduced-risk alternatives, we added reprocessed tobacco extracts to tobacco-flavored e-liquids. In this type of new product, we retain the main fragrance components of tobacco extracts while reducing the types and quantities of harmful substances. Additionally, we actively develop safer non-benzoic acid salts. Regarding the safety system, we have established a product safety assessment standard similar to the pharmaceutical industry, assessing the safety of e-liquids through ingredient analysis, toxicological risk assessment, and comprehensive biological experiments. We control the ingredient content at the molecular biology level to achieve harm reduction."
Apart from discussing research achievements, the moderator invited guests to share their views on "environmental safety and sustainable development" and "industry research and future innovation."
Dr. Shawn Long believes that the key point for both issues is "balance."
In terms of sustainable development, we should find a balance between environmental protection and economic development. While pursuing industry economic growth, it is crucial to strictly comply with environmental laws and regulations, improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, minimize the use of hazardous chemicals, and strengthen waste management. In supplier selection, green procurement factors should be considered to promote compliant and healthy development throughout the industry's upstream and downstream.
In terms of future innovation, there should be a mutual promotion and co-development between devices and e-liquids, finding a perfect balance. In product development, deep collaborative research can be conducted, aiming for complementary aspects such as material compatibility and aerosol efficiency. Together, the industry can create ecologically friendly and user-satisfactory novel tobacco products.
During the forum's break, Zinwi Biotech showcased a series of e-liquids at their booth, allowing guests to have an immersive experience and engage in in-depth discussions on the development of next-generation products with the on-site representatives.
The successful convening of the GTNF facilitated discussions on the future development direction of the tobacco industry, injecting new energy, thoughts, and opportunities into the industry. It also demonstrated the commitment and actions of all parties toward harm reduction and sustainable development.
As a leading enterprise in e-liquids, Zinwi Biotech will continue to uphold the principles of innovation, high quality, and sustainable development. They will persistently make efforts in research and harm reduction, continuously driving the industry towards a healthier and more environmentally friendly direction, providing consumers with safer and more sustainable e-liquid products.
The successful organization of the GTNF once again highlights the importance of global industry collaboration and underscores the common concerns for the industry's future. Zinwi Biotech looks forward to future cooperation and development, working together with global partners to promote innovation and progress in the industry, and making a greater contribution to the world's green and low-carbon development.
