New standards, mutual participation, a better future for the e-cigarette industry!

On September 28th, the "2021 Electronic Cigarette Industry Group Standard Release and Normative Development Promotion Conference," hosted by the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber, was successfully held in Baoan, Shenzhen under the guidance of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber. During the conference, two group standards, the "General Technical Specification for Vaporized Electronic Cigarette Devices" and the "Safety Technical Specification for E-Liquids," were formally announced and implemented. Wang Ning, the chairman of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber, emphasized in his speech that the standardized development of the electronic cigarette industry requires the establishment of a systematic and effective product quality standard, which serves as a reference for enterprise production and operation, and should have its own quality identification. The "AN" safety mark is not only to establish confidence in consumers but also a trust guarantee for the circulation of enterprises domestically and internationally. Enterprises are expected to consciously refer to the relevant group standards of the chamber, regulate their production and operation, actively participate in testing and certification, and participate in standard promotion related work.

Ou Junbiao, the chairman of the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber, mentioned in his speech that the implementation of the two group standards will pay more attention to product identification and promotion, standardized language, provide strong support for product testing and certification to safeguard consumer rights and interests. Ou called on related companies in the electronic cigarette industry to strictly implement the group standards and promote the healthier and standardized development of the industry together.

A detailed work report was presented by Ao Weinuo, the secretary-general of the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber, at the conference. According to the work report, the export and domestic sales of electronic cigarettes increased significantly in 2021, with an estimated total sales increase of 30% compared to 2020, indicating strong and irreversible demand for new tobacco consumption worldwide. Secretary-General Ao stated that in the future, the industry must face the global market, and how to enhance international competitiveness in research and innovation and intellectual property will be the main direction of enterprise development and thinking.

The domestic e-liquid industry is experiencing rapid and standardized development. The two group standards that were officially announced and implemented this time will supervise the industry's standardization from production, experimentation, inspection, services, etc., indicating that the domestic electronic atomization industry has welcomed more international development standards and market access requirements.

Zinwi's Chairman Zou Jun and Deputy General Manager Chang Pei attended the conference as vice-chairman units of the Electronic Cigarette Association of the China Electronic Commerce Chamber. As one of the co-organizing units of the e-liquid group standard drafting and launching meeting, Zinwi has absorbed the latest research results, introduced risk assessment concepts and requirements, and participated in discussions and preparation with 42 companies for half a year, completing the new standard preparation work smoothly from standard proposal, drafting, discussion, opinion solicitation to improvement and modification, and clarifying the monitoring methods and safety risk assessment requirements of e-liquid products.

At the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) held in London from September 21st to 23rd, the development of the industry also focused on "continuous change: innovation and sustainable development." At the GTNF conference, Patrick Basham, the director of the Democracy Institute in the United States, mentioned that "innovation is the driving force behind continuous change." On the other hand, in the sustainable development process of the e-liquid product ecology, regulatory innovation is needed to help the industry develop positively. 

Zinwi representative Todd, the Director of the International Division, stated that through three days of high-end dialogue and effective discussion of ideas at the forum, Zinwi will accelerate its promotion of corporate innovation and sustainable development with a broader vision and more expansive innovative thinking, expand the boundaries of business innovation, and actively participate in the discussion of international industry standards and development trends.

The implementation of new industry standards has laid the foundation for the long-term development of the industry.
